SCCo ARES/RACES Services
Emergency Communications
read
more
ARES/RACES exists to provide communications services during an emergency, to augment normal channels or as a backup when they fail. We can provide failsafe voice and data communications between the county EOC and DOCs, local jurisdiction EOCs, hospitals and allied health facilities, and tactical field units of all types.
Non-Emergency Communications

We provide communications for some non-emergency events, such as festivals, parades, bike tours, CERT practices, etc.
These allow us to serve our communities and are also good practice for emergency communications.
Data Network

We operate a high-speed, resilient intranet that our served agencies can use.
It provides packet bulletin boards, email services, and backup connections to the global Internet.
It is accessible through amateur radio, microwave WiFi, commercial Internet, and direct physical connections.
Training and Credentialing
We offer an extensive training program to prepare our operators, and a credentialing program to validate their readiness and match operators to assignments. These programs are described elsewhere on this site.
