Intro to Emergency Comms

Date: 11/21/09 Start: 08:30 AM End: 12:30 PM Location: Cupertino Community Hall
Credential Credit (What's this?): No

Congratulations! You just got your Ham Radio license and are anxious to get started... but how? There were plenty of new terms and concepts that you came across as you studied for your FCC exam, but what do they really mean? Puzzled by simplex vs. repeaters? Can't tell a PL tone from an offset? And, how do I get on the air with my radio? If this sounds like you, then this class – An Introduction to Emergency Communications – will give you plenty of the basics about your new hobby with hands-on exercises that should get you started with Ham Radio and Emergency Communications. This is the first of two basic courses designed to get new hams familiar with some common operating procedures, emergency communications, and getting on the air. This course will be taught at the Cupertino Community Hall, 10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino (located between City Hall and the Library). Registration opens at 8:15am with the course starting promptly at 8:30am.

Note: 90% or better class time attendance required for credit.

Instructor: Jim O KN6PE, EC Cupertino
