Ham Cram (for Technician License) - open to the general public

Date: 08/24/19 Start: 8:00 AM End: 5:00 PM Location: Los Gatos EOC (15900 LG Blvd)
Credential Credit (What's this?): No

This listing is to help us advertise the class to CERT and other neighborhood groups whose members might be interested in getting a ham license.  It's a great way to increase the ranks of local ARES-RACES teams.  We see many of our graduates at the County ARES-RACES Saturday classes.  We encourage all of our graduates to start with the county Intro to and Fundamentals of Emergency Communications classes and then continue with all the valuable classes that County A-R puts on for adding to and maintaining emergency radio skills.

This is the 16th Ham Cram put on quarterly by the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno ARES-RACES group as a public service to all who wish to support their family and community in an Emergency (or Public Service Event).  It is an instructor-led Ham Cram with 4-6 instructors for the day.  The slides were originally created by the Saratoga Amateur Radio Association (SARA).

There have been well over 300 graduates since 2016 with a 95% pass rate.  Attendees come principally from Santa Clara County, but have included participants from San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Sacramento counties, among others, even several from out of state.

The class starts promptly at 8:00a and ends at 4:00p with lunch and other breaks.  The FCC Volunteer Examiners ( take over at 4:00p to manage the testing process.

Spread the word to everyone who might benefit.  There will be one additional ham cram classes in 2019 on Nov 23.
