Santa Clara County and City Quarterly Drill.  This sign-up is for participation at the county EOC.  You MUST have approval from your city EC First.

Time:

All operators must be at the county EOC no later than 09:00 for the briefing and to prepare the equipment.  The drill runs from 10:00 - 12:00.  After the drill, we will conduct a debrief.  You should be done no later than 13:00.

Positions:

Two types of operators are needed for the county radio room.  Net control operators and packet operators.

The net control position in the county radio room can be non-stop action, so preference is given to existing MACs and MITs.  At least one of the Net Controls must be an experienceed NCO and able to handle a very busy net.  This position must be approved by Staff.

The packet position is the county radio room is also non-stop action, plus you gain experience with the automated logging and printing software installed at the county.  Again, preference is given to existing MACs and MITs.

Access:

In order to participate, you must be signed up in advance.  Please sign up at least one week in advance to allow us to plan.  MACs must bring and wear their MAC badge to gain admittance.  Note:  If you do not have a MAC badge, you MUST sign up no later than one week in advance so we can make arrangements to approve your access with the Sheriff.

Directions:

The County EOC is located on the 4th floor of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's office, located at 55 W. Younger Ave., San Jose.  Park in the lot across the street.

Enter the front door and go to the window on the left. Inform the deputy that you need to go up to the 4th Floor EOC for the drill.  You will need to show your MAC badge or, if you were pre-approved, get a temporary badge.

The deputy will unlock the door to your right.  Go through the door and up the elevator to the fourth floor.  Exit the elevator and walk down the hall that is straight ahead and slightly to the left.  Enter the EOC and you'll see us.

MAC Evaluations:

Depending on availability of evaluators, MAC Evaluations can be offered for N3, N2, P3, P2, and sometimes F3, F2 qualifications.  Individuals requesting MAC evals should sign up and then contact the MAC Program Manager.  The evaluations will include the operator skills area, as well as the knowledge area.  Depending on the weather, we may also offer equipment evaluations in the parking lot after the event is over.

Drill Details:

More specific instructions about the drill, incident scenario, and after-drill information, such as the scorecard and the after action report can be found here (and on the main Training page).
