Cupertino Winter Storm Comm Exercise

Date: 02/21/26 Start: 8:00 AM End: 12:00 PM Location: Cupertino
Credential Credit (What's this?): Yes

This exercise is part of a simulated severe weather event causing the loss of power and communications. Amateur radio operators are asked to respond to the field as emergency field communications stations to take 9-1-1 calls from residents looking for help from County Fire, Sheriff, EMS, and the city's DPW. Both voice and packet 9-1-1 messages will be passed.

Voice operators should bring a radio and external antenna sufficient to reach the W6TDM repeater.  Packet operators will bring their own equipment and should be able to set up and operate from the field without commercial power. Depending on their assigned location, you may need to bring a table and chair. The Incident Reporting (911) PackItForm will be required for packet responders. Instructions for installing this application will be provided ahead of time.

Sign-ups for this event will close at 6 pm on Thursday, February 19.

Participants who do not have a Cupertino DSW will be sworn in at the exercise.
