This event is a Coastal Region Communications Exercise primarily focusing on HF Amateur and HF SHARES resources.
Must hold a County EOC Radio Operator Endorsement or have CRO approval to participate. Prior knowledge of WinLink Express is helpful but not required.
You will be given some basic instructions on the use of the SHARES radio and WinLInk Express and then asked to make contacts with other Coastal Region Op Areas taking part in the exercise via both HF voice and SHARES digitial modes.
There will be 2 shifts of 3 hours each:
- Shift 1 - 10:00 to 13:00
- Shift 2 - 13:00 to 16:00
More details will be provided. We will provide some reading materal before the exercise with some basics of the HF SHARES system.
Exercise Scenario
A major earthquake has occurred off the coast of California impacting all cell phone and internet. Coastal Region Emergency operations centers in California will be activated and request local Auxiliary Communications (RACES) support. Simulated field reports will be used to develop mutual aid requests to other coastal region Op Areas.
Credential Credit will be for a future HF SHARES Endorsement.
Sign-ups will close at 0800 on Monday August 19th.
