Client Software
Outpost and PacFORMS are the standard client software used in Santa Clara County ARES/RACES. Outpost provides an easy to use, e-mail-like user interface for sending, receiving and managing packet messages. PacFORMS provides an HTML representation of many standard county forms and optimizes the sending and receiving of forms-based information over a packet network.
This program installs both Outpost and PacFORMs and includes optimized configuration files for the county BBSs and several popular TNCs. All users of the Santa Clara County packet network should use this version of Outpost and PacFORMS.
Instructions:
- Download the installer to your hard drive.
- Most users will use the link below
- ECs and AECs only: To download the installer with all private PacFORMS, go to the Training and Events database, log in, go to the bottom of the left column and select "SCCo Outpost Installer".
- Be sure to install from an account with administrator privileges
- Double click on the installer .exe file to launch the installer
- Windows Vista and Windows 7 users: you no longer need to use "Run as Administrator"
- Install to the default directory
- Windows Vista and Windows 7 users: it is now safe to install in the default C:\Program Files ... directory.

Outpost Packet Message Manager software is written by Jim Oberhofer, KN6PE, and is available at http://www.outpostpm.org. The generic version of Outpost can be installed on the same machine as the above combined installer.
